Tino Ceberano Martial Art Schools also known as Kushin Kan Honbu Dojo is a traditional Goju karate school operating directly under Hanshi Tino Ceberano.
Hanshi Tino Ceberano is a 9th dan international karate master and is referred to as the ‘father of karate’ in Australia. He was a direct student under Gogen Yamaguchi, the founder of Goju Kai. For 50 years Hanshi Tino Ceberano has trained students in all states of Australia in this martial art and the tradition continues in Canterbury to this day with two of his leading instructors.
Tino Ceberano Martial Art Schools in Canterbury
The head instructors are John Ross Shihan and Lambros Kallianiotis Shidoin, who both started training directly under Hanshi 30 years ago. They are passionate about preserving the traditional values and codes that make karate so unique in emphasizing the personal values of respect, humility, discipline and chivalry.
This school has been formed in order to carry on Hanshi Tino Ceberano’s legacy and pass on his teachings and martial arts technology, which he developed through a lifetime of experience in the martial arts.
Classes are available for all ages and are held on Tues and Thurs afternoons/evenings. Beginners are welcomed and we hold classes for all ranks up to black belts. It’s never too late to start and we encourage women and adults who have never trained in self-defense.
We practice traditional Goju karate with no politics and no egos, just good old fashioned hard training! Whether you seek improved fitness and flexibility, wish to relocate from another karate style or simply aim to keep up with your kids, pay us a visit!
We are located on the corner of Mont Albert Rd. and Burke Rd. in Canterbury at St. David’s Centre.
